Services Needed: Receptionist, Clerical, Mentors, Aides for clients, Workshops, Other (see comments) Comments/Notes: Mentors: Social Programs like Crafts, music arts, exercise. Aides for Social Day Program: Music Arts & Crafts. Workshops on Music, travelogues, pet therapy, reminiscence, arts & crafts, massage therapy, aromatherapy, and reflexology.
Other Needs: We have an active internship agreement with the Nursing Department as well as the Human Services Department. We are willing to take on other interns. This agency works with the elders in Westport to provide elder advocacy, social services (case management, outreach) classes for education and exercise, activities, Senior Social Day Care, and other needs of elders. We have 3 BA-educated social services workers, two of whom are bilingual in Portuguese (one is also bicultural), and one is an RN of 18 years with a Gerontology Certification and 1 year of MSW course work completed. We also have a staff member with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development, with 25 years of experience in that field. Of these four staff, three are BCC alumni, so the agency is very interested in a continued, expanded relationship with BCC.
