The program provides literacy services to incumbent and displaced workers. The scope of services offered range from ESOL Beginner level through GED Preparation. Furthermore, remediation skills upgrading is available for those who have their High School Diploma or GED and are interested in improving their reading, writing, and math skills. Customized training is offered at workplace sites and is tailored to meet the needs of the employees and businesses.
The Workplace Literacy Program’s expertise includes:
- development of a Workplace Needs Analysis,
- customized training in areas such as ESOL Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9000 Certification, and
- assistance to businesses with the application process for a successful Workforce Training Fund Grant. ( Workplace Literacy Program.doc at heading “Apply for a Workforce Training Grant”)
Remediation skills training programs are also available to displaced workers (DislocatedWorkers’Program.doc). Individuals who have lost their jobs due to foreign trade and need to upgrade their remedial skills so that they may re-enter the workforce may be eligible to receive these services.
