State Approved Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide (NAT/HHA) Training Program
Program Description
This 121 hour state approved program will prepare you to get employment opportunities in nursing homes, home care agencies, and hospitals. This training program teaches nursing skills through classroom lecture, skills practice with a fully equipped nursing lab and clinical placement in a long term care facility. Cost of course does not include the textbook, uniforms, shoes, or state testing fee.

The 121 hours of training include:- Classroom lecture and skills practice
- 18 hours of Home Health Aide Training
- 4 hours of BLS of Healthcare Provider CPR Training
- 28 hours of clinical experience
- Must be able to pass the Nurse Aide Training Reading and Math Placement test or provide documentation of a High School Diploma or GED

Physical Form/Certificate of Immunization Form (Physical Form)
- Must have received a physical exam within the last year
- Must provide documentation of Immunizations; including Tetnus, Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis B or declination form for Hepatitis B.
- Must submit a C.O.R.I Application. A positive C.O.R.I may prevent students from completing the clinical requirement of the program
- Must be done within the past 6 months
- Must be negative
- You are required to fill out this form if you request not to receive the Hepatitis B Immunization Series
- Must be signed and dated
- Describes standards of the program, must be signed and dated.

- Must submit a copy of High School Diploma or GED prior to or on first day of class.
- Must be able to pass the Nurse Aide Training Reading and Math Placement test or provide documentation of a High School Diploma or GED

What will I need to have/ prepare for the first day of class?
- You will need the required textbook (The textbook that will be used for this program is Mosby’s Essentials for Nursing Assistants, 4rd. Edition text. All textbooks can be be purchased from the Book Store at the Fall River, New Bedford or Attleboro Campus
- You will need to read the first 3 chapters prior to class
- Bring any remaining program forms/paperwork the first day of class with you
- You will not need your uniforms the first weeks of class
- Blue Scrubs- basic v neck scrubs
- White nursing shoes/ sneakers, no open backed shoes, no clogs
- Most clinical assignments are on the weekends toward the end of the program (occasionally, there are clinical assignments during the week)
- If you choose the Saturday option, your clinical will be on Sunday
- The Program Coordinator will inform you of the clinical dates as soon as available.
- You will be required to attend a clinical orientation at the facility approximately one week before clinical begins; date is based on class schedule and facility availability
- Items that you are required to purchase are: The textbook, hospital blue scrubs and white shoes. Book can be purchase at the BCC bookstore
- It is recommended to have a watch with a second hand, notebooks for class, a small pocket notebook for clinical

How do I apply for the State certification Exam to become a CNA?
- BCC offers on site testing for the Red Cross State Certification exam. The cost of testing on site at BCC is $175.00, this cost includes the Red Cross testing fee and a review class to help you prepare for the state test.
- The NAT program coordinator will provide with specific registration information and dates for the testing once classes begin.
