GED Graduation 2013 - Information

As Bristol Community College plans for the traditional GED graduation the following information should be helpful. Please read instructions carefully.

The graduation ceremony will begin, rain or shine, on the BCC Elsbree Street campus under the Commencement tent Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. You should arrive on campus at 10:00 a.m. and check in at the Jackson Arts Center (H building).
Guests are asked to go directly to the tent to be seated in order to make the task of lining up graduates easier. Please follow the instructions of the ushers. Seating for guests is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Children, however, will not be able to sit with graduates, so please plan for supervision.
Plan accordingly for adverse weather conditions. Also note that part of the processional involves walking through the campus grounds. You will march through the tent on grassy areas; please wear appropriate shoes.
In order to help you in planning the best way to capture commencement memories, please be aware of the following:
President Sbrega invites you to have your photographs taken with him after the ceremony. We ask that you provide your own camera and bring someone to take the picture.
Gradimages™ featuring Gradtrak® is the official commencement photographer. An individual photograph of each graduate will be taken after descending the stage. A proof of the photograph will be mailed to you along with information on ordering copies and enlargements.
Graduation program listing
Your name will appear alphabetically in the graduation program and will be announced as you receive your certificate. Medals will be awarded to individuals who have achieved a score of 2,500 or above.
**Local newspapers will be attending this event; if you do not wish your name/photo to be in the newspaper, please let us know when you RSVP.
The GED ceremony will be simulcast by Fall River Community Television on channel 95. Fall River cable subscribers can watch the ceremony live on channel 95 beginning at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be rebroadcast frequently during the month of June; exact times will be posted on channel 95. In addition the ceremony will also be streamed live online at www.frctv.org.
Requests for accommodations for graduates and/or guests should be made in advance. When you call to RSVP 508-678-2811 extension 2270, please let us know if you and/or your guests need accommodations to access this program of events. A wheelchair lift to the stage will be provided for graduates, and reserved seating is available for guests with disabilities.
American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be on stage translating. If you or your guests require Communication access real-time translation (cart) or an assistive listening device (ALD), please contact Julie Jodoin at ext. 2568 or by videophone (VP) at 508.689.7616.
Cap and gown
You must pick up your mandatory cap and gown at the bookstore in the Commonwealth College Center (G building) beginning Monday, May 6th. You must bring a photo ID and gown fee of $34.00. The BCC Bookstore accepts cash, credit/debit card, and personal checks as acceptable methods of payment. All items must be picked up before Friday, May 31st at 5 p.m.
On Sunday, June 2, 2013 the ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. sharp, rain or shine.

In the event of rain or the threat of rain, please bring an umbrella for protection during the processional from the Arts Center to the tent.
