Bristol Community College Athletic Director
Derek Viveiros was hired as the Bristol Community College Athletic Director in the fall of 2011. After one year under his direction, the athletic department has seen improvements in team GPA and roster size. The BCC athletic department has also expanded into the spring season with the addition of co-ed tennis, beginning in 2012.
Viveiros comes to BCC via Iowa Wesleyan College. He spent three years as Iowa Wesleyan College’s lead assistant, serving as the hitting and outfielders coach for the Tigers. In his first two years at IWC, Viveiros helped the Tigers become one of the top hitting teams in the Midwest Collegiate Conference. In 2010 IWC led the conference in hits, slugging percentage, home runs and runs batted in and ranked second in batting average. The IWC offense set a program record with 72 homeruns in the 2010 season. The Tigers won two conference championships during Viveiros’ time at IWC.
Prior to his arrival at Iowa Wesleyan, he served in similar positions with Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, WV and with current Region XXI opponent, Dean College
Viveiros is a 2005 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH where he earned a degree in sport management and 2011 graduate from American Public University where he earned a Masters degree in sport management with a concentration in coaching.
He is a native of Fall River, Mass where he and his wife Angelet currently reside.
