New Hires

Dr. Christine Helfrich
Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy Assistant program

Christine has been a valuable adjunct faculty member here at BCC since 2014 and is currently serving as the academic fieldwork coordinator. Christine Helfrich New Hires ImageChristine is responsible for placing 62 students in Level II full-time placements and procuring and establishing new sites and contracts.

‌She is currently a term lecturer at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions. Christine has also been affiliated with Occupational Therapy programs at Boston University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Christine has 20 years teaching experience in all levels of Occupational Therapy education including OTA, BS, MS, MOT, OTD, SCD and PHD programs. She also comes to us with extensive OT clinical experience (mental health, providing consultation in nursing homes for older adults and people with developmental disabilities). She has been awarded numerous grants as well as received many awards and honors for her research.

Dr. Constance Messier
Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy Assistant program

Connie has been a valuable adjunct faculty member here at BCC since 2010. Connie is also a BCC alumni having graduated from the Occupational Therapy program.

Connie Messier New Hire ImageShe teaches pediatric level curriculum for the OTA program and is responsible for the pediatric fieldwork component as well.

‌She comes to us from Salem State University where she was a full-time faculty member in the Occupational Therapy department. Connie also has extensive clinical experience having worked for many years at St. Anne’s Hospital providing outpatient pediatric rehabilitation services.

Connie has given numerous lectures on topics of pediatric occupational therapy issues to many schools and community organizations in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is a member of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Associations.

Ann Marie Barone
Faculty member, Health Information Management/ Coding and Reimbursement Specialist major

Ann Marie has been a valuable adjunct and MCCC faculty member here at BCC since 2015. Ann Marie was also the program chair for the same major from 2013 – 2015.

Ann Marie Barone New Hire ImageShe has extensive experience as a health information management administrator, she has managed multi-facility integrated healthcare systems, while forecasting future technological and information needs. Her background encompasses diverse and extensive experience in managing health information in hospice, acute care hospitals, and community health care settings.

She has achieved a consistent record of accomplishments from preparing for Joint Commission accreditation, Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) accreditation, implementation of organization’s HIPAA programs, and EMR implementation to introducing new technology to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Amy Cone
Full-time faculty member, Dental Hygiene

Amy comes to us from New Jersey and will be relocating to the area in August. She has been a professional dental hygiene educator and clinician with 15 years of experience working as an adjunct faculty member in

dental hygiene programs in the community college setting.Amy Cone New Hires Image

‌‌She has extensive knowledge and experience in course development including the development of course 

objectives and learning outcomes, design of lesson plans and learning activities, and creation of various assessments to evaluate outcomes for both clinical and didactic courses taught face-to-face and online.

Amy has earned a Master of Science in medical education leadership from the University of New England as well as a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from Northeastern University, and a certificate and advanced certificate in dental hygiene from the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists.

Jay Yoon
Instructor, Business Administration

Jay has many years teaching experience, most recently as an adjunct at Union County College in New Jersey, and at Dongguk University, Seoul, Jay Yoon New Hires ImageSouth Korea.  He also has many years experience working in the private sector as the director of sales for JD Distributor, LLC, as the marketing manager for HnH Associates, Inc., an account manager for Willis, Inc., and as an underwriter, marketing coordinator and reinsurance analyst for Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co. 

Jay brings to BCC the ability to teach a wide variety of business courses as well as a wealth of experience from the private sector that he will share with our students. Jay received a BA from Syracuse University and an MBA from Rutgers University. 

Jay will not be on campus until the middle of August. However, when you meet him, please help welcome him to the Division for Business and Information Management, and most importantly, to BCC! 

 

Nathan Pacheco

Motor Equipment Mechanic I, Facilities

BCC’s newest motor equipment mechanic, Nathan Pacheco, assumed his new duties on July 31. Most days, you will find him in the Facilities garage, or on campus keeping things running. 

Nathan Pacheco New Hires ImageNathan comes to BCC from Mid-City Scrap where he gained experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of equipment from small engine repair, hydraulics and brake repair, to large engine rebuilding and transmission repair.

Nathan is certified as a Diesel Technician, and a graduate of Universal Technical Institute (UTI). Please welcome Nathan to the Bristol Community College Community and say hello when you see him on campus!
