Coach's Information

Rob Delaleu

“If there is anyone at the college that bleeds green and white, it’s Coach D.  He has been with the program since its inception in 2008 and has consistently displayed his passion for guiding student-athletes on and off the court.” – Derek Viveiros, Athletic Director at BCC

Coach Delaleu is entering his seventh year as head coach of the BCC Men’s Basketball program.  In 2014 they captured Bristol’s first ever MCCAC Championship and competed in the semi-finals of the Region XXI men’s basketball tournament.  Following the most successful season under Coach Delaleu, Bristol star Shane DaRosa was named an NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention and went on to sign a professional contract in the ABA with the Providence Anchors.

Before 2014, Men's Basketball's last appearance in the post season was during the 2011-12 season when Coach Delaleu led his all-freshmen squad to the 2012 MCCAC Tournament. Also in the 2011-12 season, his young team went on to defeat two nationally ranked top 10 ranked programs, making that six total wins against Top 10 programs during his career at BCC. Coach Delaleu’s 2010-11 team finished with an 11-9 overall record and just missed the Region XXI tournament in a very close race. During the 2009-2010 season coach Delaleu led his team to a 17-6 record finishing with the 3rd best record in the Conference as well as making it to the regional tournament for the first time in the school’s history. BCC Men’s basketball made it to the regional semifinal game where they lost a heartbreaker to nationally ranked Gateway CC.

Coach Delaleu has made a significant impact within the men’s basketball program during his time here. A number of players have moved on to compete and continue their education at four-year college’s and has seen a positive trend in overall team GPA.

With a history of athletic success, coach Delaleu brings his experience in basketball, both as an athlete and a coach, to BCC. Rob's coaching career started at Dean College, his alma mater; where he helped recruit the foundation of a team that went on to win the 2003 NJCAA Region XXI Division II title. Since 2003, he has worked with the men's basketball teams at Bridgewater State College, Bishop Stang High School, and Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, where he won more than 80 percent of his games.

A 1000-point scorer, Rob broke records at both colleges he attended, Dean College, where he obtained an Associate's Degree, and Wheaton College, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. He was also named to the New England Men's Basketball All-Star Team in 2001. He attended high school at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School where he led the boys' basketball team to the best regular season in the school's history (21-1 SCC champs).

Rob resides in New Bedford, MA and has an eleven-year-old son, Lyric.
