Transfer Scholarships

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a four-year college or university. The Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year to each of approximately 75 deserving students selected annually, making it the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.

A review panel of distinguished university faculty and admissions professionals judge the applicants using criteria including achievement and academic ability, financial need, resilience, leadership, self-confidence, and desire to help others. Click here to find out more about this generous scholarship. ALL materials are due by Noon EST on October 24, 2017. 

All USA Academic Team

BCC nominates two students to the All-USA Academic Team for Community, Technical and Junior Colleges. From the nominations received, 20 first, second and third team members will be selected. First Team members will receive a $2,500 cash stipend and will be recognized during the Phi Theta Kappa Presidents' breakfast at the AACC National Conference, and will be featured in USA Today. BCC nominees will be eligible for $500 BCC Foundation scholarships and are eligible for Phi Theta Kappa Internship programs. Click here for more information on this scholarship. UMass Dartmouth Transfer Merit Scholarships

Students must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better before matriculating at UMD. The scholarships are renewable for up to six semesters if students complete 24 credits a year (not including summer and intersession courses) and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average. Application for admission and subsequent acceptance to UMD will automatically allow students to be considered. Scholarships amounts vary up to $5000. Consideration given to students who apply for spring admission by December 1, 2017. Recipients are selected by UMD’s Admissions Committee. Community Scholarships

The Community Scholarship and Award is offered to applicants who are low income and/or who are first generation college attendees. The scholarship committee takes into consideration a student's academic record and level of academic challenge; however, the review also includes factors such as school activities, community service, and work experience. This scholarship or award may be combined with a tuition credit.

  • Award application: None required
  • Notification: Admissions Office will notify recipients at the time of acceptance
  • Renewal requirement: maintain the minimum requirements of satisfactory academic progress (see the Academic Regulations published by the University Registrar)
  • Renewable up to an aggregate total of four years (eight semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment

Community College Academic Honors Scholarship

A $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually at the Massachusetts Science Fair to a top-scoring winner. This scholarship may be combined with a tuition credit.

  • Scholarship application: Documentation of the first place award must be submitted and verified with Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair (MSSEF).
  • Notification: The Admissions Office will notify the recipient after acceptance and upon submission of documentation
  • Renewal requirement: cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and maintain the minimum requirements of satisfactory academic progress (see the Academic Regulations published by the University Registrar)
  • Renewable up to an aggregate total of four years (8 semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment
  • Appeals are directed through the Associate Director of Financial Aid for Awarding

Honors to Honors Scholarships

The Honors-to-Honors Scholarship is for Massachusetts community college honors students entering the UMass Amherst Commonwealth Honors College. Students must be in an approved MassTransfer program and are encouraged to complete their community college honors program. Students who do not complete their honors program and who have a 3.5 GPA for each semester completed (two or more semesters), who are in approved MassTransfer programs, and who meet all other UMass Amherst transfer admissions criteria will also be considered. To receive the award students must accept the invitation to be in Commonwealth Honors College. This scholarship may be combined with a tuition credit.

The award is for residents of Massachusetts who are low-income or first-generation students. The award amount is $6,000 per year for two consecutive years (or four semesters). Recipients will be selected by a scholarship committee made up of faculty and staff from Academic Affairs and Commonwealth Honors College. The scholarship committee takes into consideration a student's academic record and level of academic challenge; however, the review also includes factors such as school activities, community service, field of study, and work experience.

  • Award application: The application is optional, but encouraged. Contact the Admissions Office for an application form.
  • Notification: Admissions Office will notify recipients at the time of acceptance
  • Renewal requirement: maintain the minimum requirements of satisfactory academic progress (see the Academic Regulations published by the University Registrar)
  • Renewable up to an aggregate total of two years (four semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment

Rhode Island College Transfer Scholars Award

These awards range from $2,500 to $5,000 and are based on academic achievement as well as financial need.  To be considered, an entering transfer student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 as determined by the college Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the time of acceptance.  Eligibility is determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid, using information from both the FAFSA and the Rhode Island College Financial Aid Application.  Awards may be renewed for up to three years of study based on need and maintenance of a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Eastern Nazarene College

Scholarship for Management Majors

ENC offers generous tuition discounts and scholarships to BCC students and staff enrolled in their bachelor of arts degree in Management. Classes are held on BCC’s Fall River campus and students with an associate’s degree from BCC in ANY program are eligible. Classes meet one night a week and students can finish the degree in 30 months. ENC also offers a Master of Science in Management degree at BCC. 

Roger Williams University Merit-Based Scholarships

Roger Williams University is deeply committed to community college students that want to obtain their bachelor’s degree. Transfer Scholarships range from $7,000-10,000.  Applicants with cumulative GPAs starting at 2.75 will be considered for a scholarship. Scholarships are granted for three consecutive years and students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8 to retain scholarship eligibility. Students must enroll as full-time, day students at RWU to be eligible. Guaranteed Scholarships from Bryant University

Bryant University has expanded their scholarship support to outstanding BCC transfer students. They will guarantee three $16,000 academic scholarships to students enrolled full time in the following BCC programs:

  • One scholarship to a student in the Presidential Scholars Program.
  • Two scholarships to students enrolled in the Communication Transfer Program, Business Administration Transfer Program or the Computer Information Systems Transfer Program.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Acceptance to Bryant University as a full-time student.
  • Completion of an associate’s degree in one of the three Bryant University articulation agreement programs.
  • Recent graduate from BCC with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Enrolled as a full-time student while at BCC.

    *There is no scholarship application. Winners will be selected from eligible applicants to Bryant University.

Anna Marie College Transfer Scholarships

Anna Maria College offers institutional merit-based scholarships for full-time undergraduate transfers. A completed FAFSA is not required for merit-based scholarships. These scholarships range in amount from $14,000 to $20,000 and are based on an academic index which is determined by the accepted student’s grade point average, class rank (if provided by the school) and SAT or ACT scores (if submitted). If the student’s school does not provide a rank or the student chooses not to submit SAT or ACT scores, the scholarship amount will be determined by the grade point average. 

Transfer Scholarships from Clark University

Northeastern University College of Prof. Studies Scholarship

Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies recognizes the investment made by students in partner institutions through the Community College Scholarship. Students with an earned associate degree from one of these partner community colleges may be eligible for a scholarship of up to $5,000. Students who meet the scholarship criteria will be automatically considered for the Community College Scholarship. Criteria considered when deciding on scholarship awards include academic ability, fit to the academic program, and financial need. Click here for more information. 

MWPHE Scholarship for Women

The Massachusetts Women in Public Higher Education (MWPHE) is once again requesting applications for Student Achievement Scholarship Awards, which recognize the outstanding achievements of female students who are educated in the Massachusetts public higher education system. Since 1992, MWPHE has awarded scholarships to women who have overcome significant personal barriers to achieve academic success through our Commonwealth’s public institutions.
